Raindrop Technique

Raindrop Technique is a unique and deeply relaxing practice that combines targeted essential oil application with specialized massage techniques to support overall wellness. Developed by Dr. Gary Young and inspired by traditional Lakota wellness practices, this integrative technique promotes balance, relaxation, and a refreshed sense of well-being.

What is Raindrop Technique?

Using the highest-quality Young Living essential oils, Raindrop Technique involves the strategic application of oils along the spine and feet, combined with gentle Vitaflex and feathering strokes. These carefully selected oils—renowned for their purifying, soothing, and supportive properties—help reduce tension, support the body’s natural detoxification, and encourage a sense of renewal.

The principal single oils used include:

  • Oregano (Origanum vulgare) – One of the most powerful antimicrobial essential oils. Research at Weber State University demonstrated 99% kill rate against in-vitro colonies of Streptococcus pneumonia.
  • Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) – Antiseptic, immune enhancing, and supportive of body’s natural defenses, Thyme has been used to combat the bacterium that causes anthrax.
  • Basil (Ocimum basilicum) – Can be relaxing to both voluntary muscles and to involuntary muscles. Mentally energizing and invigorating, is used for tension headaches, and can improve senses of taste and smell.
  • Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) – Supports joints and skeletal structure. Has a cortisone-like effect in that it may stimulate the body’s own production of natural cortisone. Also has analgesic properties due to its chemical structure being similar to that of aspirin.
  • Marjoram (Origanum marjorana) – Relaxing to both the involuntary and voluntary muscles. Soothing to nerves. Used for migraines. Antiseptic and antimicrobial in nature.
  • Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) – Antimicrobial. Supportive of the circulatory and lymphatic systems. Stimulates the body’s natural white corpuscle production.
  • Peppermint (Mentha piperita) – Supports digestive system, respiratory system, and nervous system. Has been used for headaches. Research has shown that inhaling peppermint improves concentration and mental retention. Detoxifying to the liver. A synergistic oil that supports and improves the beneficial actions of other oils used in conjunction.

Raindrop Technique is Designed to:

  • Promote a calm and balanced state
  • Support the body’s natural immune response
  • Encourage deep relaxation and stress relief
  • Enhance overall vitality and alignment

The oils are dispensed in little drops from a height of about six inches above the back, which is where Raindrop Technique gets its name. They are then massaged along the spine and back muscles. They are also applied to the feet.

The whole process takes about an hour and may continue to work in the body for up to three weeks following a Raindrop Session, with possible realignment and bodily adjustment taking place during this time.
